PRINCE ALBERT, PRINCE CONSORT, CONSORT OF VICTORIA, QUEEN OF THE UNITED KINGDOM (1819-61)

Copy letter from the Prince Consort to the Duke of Somerset

3 Jul 1860

(whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/Z/466/38

Copy letter from the Prince Consort to the Duke of Somerset confirming the Queen's approval to use his ship, and two smaller vessels accompanying it, to transport the Prince of Wales to Canada, and to take the staff from those who were presently in commission. Plus the use of a steamer to take the Prince up to St. Lawrence. Prince Albert also suggests that due to the numbers of people accompanying the Prince of Wales that a yacht may be best to use and that this could be discussed with General Bruce.
