Letter from Sir James Graham to Prince Albert
30 Jun 1843Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/M/51/168
Sir James Graham states that the riots in South Wales have been 'very much exaggerated'. He points out that there has been no conflict between the troops and rioters but a dragoon was accidentally drowned, giving rise to the report. He refers to the continued destruction of 'Turnpike Gates' and explains the actions that would be taken by Colonel Love if necessary, as well as the locations of the troops. Sir James Graham also encloses letters from Colonel Turner, Colonel Powell and Colonel Love (not present).
