Glass plate negative of a watercolour (RCIN 927595) memorialising Prince Albert (1819-61). The watercolour is intended to resemble an altarpiece. Prince Albert features at the centre of the work, dressed in armour. Queen Victoria had the watercolour inserted into the door of the Blue Room at Windsor Castle, where the Prince had died.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exist in the Collection, RCIN 2373694.
